ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (10-1-1-3), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, held on to their 2-1 lead to get two points over the Bakersfield Condors (2-11-0-1) Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena before 6,816 fans.

At the 7:31 mark of the first period, Jake Newton picked up a perfect feed from Reign newcomer Chad Costello in front of the Condors cage and banged it in to give Ontario a 1-0 lead. Moments later, at 8:17, the Reign took control of the puck off the faceoff and brought it behind Condors goaltender Chet Pickard. Mike Towns sent a pass out to Everett Sheen who was waiting in the high slot and his shot sailed past Pickard's glove for a 2-0 score.

The score stayed at 2-0 in favor of the Reign through the second frame which saw each side with shots on goal. The Condors got their first goal of the night on a power play at 7:34 in the third period. A tic-tac-toe passing play between Nicholas Tremblay, Chris Collins, and Michael Neal ended with Neal lighting the lamp for Bakersfield.

Hutchinson earned his fifth straight win with 20 saves on 21 shots; Pickard took the loss with 19 saves on 21 shots.
