K-Wings Defeat the Toledo Walleye 3-2

Kalamazoo, MI - Earning a season-low 17 shots, the Kalamazoo Wings (24-22-4-1) were outshot 42-17, but found away to defeat the Toledo Walleye (28-18-1-4) 3-2 Friday night at Wings Stadium in front of a crowd of 4,166 during the 2nd Annual Susan G. Komen Game, presented by Consumers Energy.

Limited to three shots in the first period didn't hinder the K-Wings in the stanza. Earning his first points as a professional the night before with a pair of assists, Wesley Myron only had to wait 24 hours to notch his first pro goal. Skating in the slot, Myron lifted a wrist shot over the glove hand of Jimmy Spratt on the team's first shot of the game.

Kalamazoo's shooting percentage stayed at 100 percent after their second shot from Kory Karlander (8th) 8:40 into the period. In his second game since returning from the 21-Day IR, Karlander snuck in front of the crease to score on a backhander.

Scoring off a deflection, Toledo cut Kalamazoo's leads in half 2:48 into the second period with a shorthanded tally from Travis Novak (8th). The shorthander was Novak's team-leading tying second of the season and the Walleye's league-high tying 10th of the season.

Skating up the right wing midway in the period, former K-Wing, John May recorded his second goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2. May last scored in his last game with the K-Wings back on January 18th against the Evansville IceMen.

Remaining tied through regulation, Aaron Clarke (16th) earned the victory for the K-Wings scoring 21 seconds into overtime. Clarke earned his team-best fifth game-winning goal deflecting a Yann Sauve pass. The 16 goals by Clarke tie him with Nick Sirota for the K-Wings team-lead in that category.

Stopping 40 shots for the victory, Joel Martin (22-19-4-1) earned his 200th victory of his career.

Kalamazoo will commence a five-game road swing tomorrow night with a 7:05 p.m. encounter at the Huntington Center against Toledo.

The K-Wings will return home on Friday, March 1st for a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Cincinnati Cyclones during Vegas Night and a FANomenal Friday, featuring $2 beer and $2 hot dogs.

Single-game tickets for the 2012-2013 season are on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Ticket Office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays. To charge tickets by phone, please call Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000.

Tickets for all K-Wings home games are $13 and $17.50 for adults and only $7 for kids ages 14 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and New Year's Eve game) are just $1 more.

Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single-game tickets in advance because tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $2 (adults only).
