Last time out...
The Freedom scored three times in the seventh inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit and prevailed by as score of 5-3 Thursday night at UC Health Stadium. Alan Carey got the start for the Freedom and pitched well, going five innings and only allowing one run. Down 1-0, Florence tied the game in the fifth on a close play at first base after Daniel Fraga hit the ball off Traverse City starter Luis DeJesus' leg. The Beach Bums grabbed a 2-1 lead in the seventh but Florence tallied three in the bottom half to take the lead for good. Zack Burling delivered his first pro hit with an infield single. He stole second and advanced to third on a grounder. He would score on a safety squeeze. Austin Newell's RBI single put Florence on top 3-2. The Freedom would add an insurance run on a throwing error. The Freedom tacked on one more in the eighth on a double steal with runners at 1st and 3rd. Ed Kohout picked up the save.
For Starters...
Cincinnati native Casey Henn is coming off a very good outing against Normal on May 31 as he went seven innings, allowing only one earned run while striking out seven in the 4-1 loss. Henn is looking for his first win since his first start of the season on May 15 against Joliet. Henn was one of the top pitchers in the entire Frontier League in 2014. He led the Freedom with nine wins and tallied a team-leading 111 strike outs, good for fourth in the league. Henn's 2.72 ERA in 2014 was tied for the sixth lowest in the league while his 122.2 innings pitched was good for the third most in the league. Some of his notable outings included seven innings of one-run ball against Lake Erie on June 4, seven innings of shutout ball against Windy City on June 11, seven innings of shutout ball against River City on June 29, seven and a third innings of shutout ball against Lake Erie on July 18, seven innings out shutout ball against Normal on August 9, seven innings of one-run ball against Joliet on August 15 and seven and two thirds innings of shutout ball against Windy City on August 21. Henn had a sensational rookie season for the Freedom, posting a 5-0 record with a 3.67 ERA for Florence fresh out of Wright State University. In nine appearances, eight starts, Henn struck out 38 batters in 49 innings while only allowing only 39 hits.

The Freedom face former Florence starter Peter Gehle tonight. Gehle went 5-7 with a 4.15 ERA in 2014 for Florence in 19 starts.

Florence went 2-4 against the Crushers in 2014, including a 1-2 record at UC Health Stadium.
