
Aviators Top ThunderBolts 5-3 in Series Opener

Kyle Hassna pitched seven solid innings while Michael Hur contributed a pair of sacrifice flies as the Rockford Aviators (15-4) defeated the Windy City Thunderbolts (5-13) 5-3 in the opening game of a three game series at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood IL.
The Aviators took a 2-0 lead in the second on a bases loaded walk to Conor Szczerba and the first sac fly by Hur. After Windy City rallied to take the lead with three In third, the Aviators tied it up with a run in the fifth before adding two more in the seventh Hur's second sac fly and an RBI single by Dusty Robinson. Hassna (3-0) earned the victory with his longest outing of the season (no walks, seven strikeouts) while Colby Holmes worked a perfect ninth to record his second save. Joel Lima (1-1) took the loss for Windy City as he yielded the tiebreaking runs in the seventh.
The teams resume their series tomorrow at Standard Bank Stadium at 6:06 pm. After closing out the series on Sunday (2:05 pm), The Aviators return home to open a six game homestand v. the Lake Erie Crushers and Frontier Greys on Tuesday, June 9 at 6:35 pm at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL.
