The Mudcats continue a seven game road trip tonight with game one of a four game series against the Frederick Keys at Nymeo Field in Frederick, MD. Carolina enters tonight's game at 21-31 and in third place behind the Salem Red Sox and Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the Carolina League Southern Division First Half Standings. The Mudcats are 2-2 against the Keys this season and last played Frederick between 5/27 and 5/30 at Five County Stadium. Carolina won games one and four of their four game set against the Keys and is batting just .194 versus Frederick pitching this season. Mudcats' pitchers have pitched to a 1.25 ERA with 36 strikeouts over 36.0 innings against the Keys.
Enderson Franco starts for the Mudcats in tonight's series opener in Frederick against the Keys. Franco is 3-3 and has pitched to a 5.02 ERA over 10 starts this season. He is also, however, 3-2 with a 3.51 ERA over his last seven outings. Franco is currently 4th among qualified Carolina League starters in FIP (2.84), 6th in K/BB ratio (4.18) and 5th in BB/9 (1.90). He last pitched on 5/29 in Zebulon against the Keys and worked through his fourth quality start of the season after holding Frederick to one earned run (two total) on five hits over 6.0 innings. Franco did not issue a walk and struck out seven his last time out. He has struck out 33 and walked only three over his last six starts.
