The Boston Red Sox have announced the following roster moves affecting the Salem Red Sox. C David Sopilka has been placed on the seven-day disabled list and C Danny Bethea has been transferred from Triple-A Pawtucket. Additionally, RHP German Taveras has been activated from the seven-day disabled list and RHP Jamie Callahan has been transferred to Short Season-A Lowell. Please note the following changes:

TO DL: C David Sopilka

ADD: C Danny Bethea

DELETE: RHP Jamie Callahan

ACTIVATE: RHP German Taveras

Sopilka left Friday's game with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans after the first inning. He is hitting .333 with a home run and 6 RBI in 22 games with Salem this year.

Bethea started the season on the disabled list with Pawtucket before making his season debut last night in Norfolk. He appeared in 12 games for Salem last season, hitting .182 in 12 games.

Taveras returns after missing the last 12 games while on the DL. He is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA for Salem in 24 innings across 11 appearances, which includes one start.

Callahan has posted a 3-2 record with a 4.76 ERA in 28.1 innings in 13 appearances this year for Salem. He was the winning pitcher in Friday's 11-10 victory over Myrtle Beach.

Bethea will wear number 39. Additionally, LHP Bobby Poyner has changed to number 30. The Red Sox roster currently sits at the Carolina League maximum of 25 players plus three on the disabled list.
