Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

SALEM, Va.

SUMMARY

The Lynchburg Hillcats' control issues reared its ugly head again Saturday evening in Salem. Jordan Milbrath's wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth allowed Yoan Moncada to score from third for the Red Sox 4-3 walk-off victory. The wild pitch was the 54th of the season for Hillcats pitching, who trails only Wilmington in that department.

OFFENSE STALLS

One night after putting up a season-high 16 runs, the Hillcats managed just three, which has not been a recipe for success. Lynchburg is now 6-16 when it scores four runs or less. Despite outhitting Salem, the 'Cats failed to string together hits in succession. They scattered seven hits throughout the ball game. Bobby Ison had his first multi-hit game of the season including an RBI double in the third inning to score Sicnarf Loopstok who had left off the frame with a double of his own.

PASQUALE IMPRESSED

Lynchburg got a strong start from starting pitcher, Nick Pasquale. The righty went a season-high 6.1 innings and allowed just two runs on five hits. Tonight was the fourth start of the season for Pasquale and the third time he did not factor into the decision. The loss was charged to Jordan Milbrath (2-3, 4.73) who suffered the loss in his second consecutive appearance. The wild pitch bit Milbrath Wednesday night at Wilmington when he threw three wild pitches in the sixth inning.

OFFER A SACRIFICE

The Hillcats have been working on sacrifice bunting and Saturday night they executed. Greg Allen laid down two sacrifice bunts including one in the eighth inning to score Daniel Salters for the go-ahead run. Loopstok and Claudio Bautista each chipped in with a sacrifice as well.

SHORT HOPS

The Hillcats are now 4-7 against Salem on the season including 0-4 at LewisGale Field. Lynchburg is 8-10 on the road against teams from the Southern Division. They are 9-1 on the road against the North.

First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. Fans can listen to the action on 93.3 FM and 1320 AM as well as www.lynchburg-hillcats.com, beginning with the Hillcats On-Deck Show at 1:45 p.m.
