Last time out...

Hunter Ackerman (2-1) went seven shutout innings and the Florence Freedom (22-31) fell to the Schaumburg Boomers (31-24) by a score of 5-1 Tuesday night at UC Health Stadium. Florence recorded seven hits in the loss but only managed two hits through the first six innings. The Boomers took the lead against Chuck Weaver (4-4) in the second. Tyler Sciacca singled to start the frame and Mark Nelson followed with a single of his own. Michael Valadez bunted the runners over and Jordan Dean hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Sciacca and give the Boomers a 1-0 lead. The score would remain 1-0 until the seventh. With one out Alexi Colon singled and Joe De Pinto launched a two-run home run to extend Schaumburg's lead to 3-0. They would add an unearned run in the eighth and one more in the ninth to open up a 5-0 advantage. Florence scored a run on a wild pitch in the ninth but it was too late.

For Starters Game One...

Michael O'Neal is making his third start of the season today for the Freedom. In his most recent start on July 10 against the Frontier Greys he took the loss, going five innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on eight hits. He won his professional debut on July 4 against Washington, going five innings, giving up two runs on four hits. O'Neal pitched two seasons at Auburn University after transferring from Chattahoochee Valley Community College. He threw 10 complete games for Chattahoochee Valley in 2011 as a freshman and posted a 3.65 ERA as a sophomore in 2012. O'Neal had an outstanding season for Auburn in 2013 as he went 8-4 with a 2.73 ERA in 14 starts with two complete games. He held opponents to a .223 batting average in 2013. His 89 innings pitched led the Tigers and was eighth in the SEC.

For Starters Game Two...

Casey Henn makes his 12th start of the season tonight for the Freedom. He is coming off an outstanding outing on July 18 against Lake Erie as he went seven and a third innings of shutout ball to get the victory. He scattered six hits and struck out six in the victory. This is his second start of the season against Schaumburg. On May 23 he went five and a third innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on five hits in a no-decision.

Double Trouble...

The Freedom have a record of 4-10 in double headers this season. They have not swept a double header all year.

One-Run Games...

Florence has struggled in one-game runs, going 7-13 in one-run affairs this year.

Home is where the wins are...

Florence is 16-14 in the friendly confines of UC Health Stadium this season. That record improves to 15-9 when you don't include the Frontier Greys. They are 6-17 away from home.

The Magnificent Miles...

Cole Miles has set a new career high this season with five home runs. He leads the Freedom in batting average at .312. Miles is second in the league in triples with four and has a team-leading 14 steals. He has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games.

Where's the offense?!

The Freedom's team batting average of .230 is last in the Frontier League. Their 204 runs scored are the fewest in the league.

Excellent Eberle...

All-Star Sam Eberle leads the Freedom in On-Base Percentage at .418. He also leads the team in multiple hit games with 16.

Transaction Wire...

The Freedom activated OF Buddy Sosnoskie from the Disabled List today.
