Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
(Wall and Lakewood, NJ) - New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) and the Lakewood BlueClaws invite you to take the ENERGY STARé Video Challenge at the upcoming Nine Innings for Nature on Sunday, July 24, at FirstEnergy Park.
Now in its fourth year, Nine Innings for Nature, sponsored by NJNG and Renewal by Andersen, is a day of environmental education, baseball and fun where attendees enjoy free family activities while learning about what they can do to save energy, save money and lower their carbon footprint. This pre-game event, which kicks off at 3:00 p.m., will feature free games, rides and ice cream for kids; giveaways and prizes; and a host of green vendors. Project PorchLight, a resource partner of New Jersey's Clean Energy Program, will also be on hand to give out free energy-efficient light bulbs.
This year, attendees will have the chance to shine with the "Be an ENERGY STAR Video Challenge." Attendees are encouraged to stop by the ENERGY STAR Video Challenge booth, sponsored by NJNG and the BlueClaws, and make a video letting the world know about the big and little things they do to save energy. "Providing fans the opportunity to participate in this nation-wide effort encourages them to think about energy-saving actions and have lots of fun along the way," said Rich Mozingo, assistant general manager of the Lakewood BlueClaws. "We're excited to broadcast this important message as a service to the BlueClaws and NJNG community."
The videos will be featured on the national ENERGY STAR website and social networking websites where the public will view and vote for their favorite videos in the fall. The winning entries will be showcased on the ENERGY STAR website during Energy Awareness month in October. And select videos will appear on the NJNG and BlueClaws website, respectively, as a means to encourage others to do their share to save energy and protect the environment.
Anne-Marie Peracchio, director of conservation and clean energy policy at NJNG, explains that the video testimonials are indicative of efforts to help customers make informed and responsible decisions through NJNG's Conserve to Perserveé initiatives. "By showcasing customer and fan video testimonials on the NJNG, BlueClaws and the ENERGY STAR websites, we hope others will engage in problem solving and take action to sustain the environment," says Peracchio. In 2009, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved nearly $17 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 30 million vehicles.
In addition, NJNG and the BlueClaws ask fans and customers to stop by the video challenge or NJNG booth and take the Change the World ENERGY STAR Pledge, which challenges them to take energy-efficiency action in their homes. Moreover, be sure to visit the NJNG booth as well as other green vendors to learn about the tools and resources available to help you save energy and money.
