
Crawdads Shutout Shorebirds In Finale, 5-0

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds (45-50, 10-15) were unable to produce with runners in scoring position as the Hickory Crawdads took the series finale 5-0 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Monday night. The Shorebirds finish the seven-game homestand 3-4.
The Crawdads scored an unearned run in the first inning. Odubel Herrera reached on an error by Riley Hornback. After stealing second base, he scored on a single up the middle by Andrew Clark.
In the fourth inning, the Crawdads exploded for four runs. Christian Villanueva hit a one out solo homer over the left field wall to stretch the lead to 2-0. Jake Skole and Alejandro Selen followed with back-to-back singles. Then, Kellin Deglan walked to load the bases. With two outs, Jurickson Profar hit a line drive down the right field line to score all three runners to lift the Dads in front 5-0.
The Shorebirds went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
Hickory starter Roman Mendez earned the win over six shutout innings. He struck out eight batters and walked just one. Shorebirds starter Scott Copeland took the loss over six innings. He surrendered seven hits and four earned runs.
Randy Henry tossed two scoreless innings to increase his home scoreless innings streak to 16.1. Will Startup tossed a scoreless ninth inning.
Mike Mooney extended his hitting streak to five games with a 3-for-4 night. He was the lone Shorebirds player with multiple hits.
The Shorebirds travel to Rome, Georgia to take on the Rome Braves on Wednesday night.
