Toronto Marlies News Release

The Toronto Marlies today announced the hiring of John Bartlett as radio play-by-play broadcaster. Bartlett will call all 80 regular season games including a minimum 31 of which are to be broadcast on AM640 Radio. All regular season and playoff games will be available to listeners on the Internet at www.torontomarlies.com. In collaboration with B2 Networks, fans will also have the opportunity to watch every Marlies game this season for a fee of $6 (US) per game.

"John has extensive broadcasting experience and is an avid hockey fan. He has been highly recommended by a number of sports executives and we look forward to having him call the action in our inaugural season and beyond," said Chris Gibbs, Director of Business Operations for the Marlies. "Marlies' fans will certainly enjoy the passion, excitement and enthusiasm John brings to every broadcast."

Bartlett, 26, joins the Marlies after spending five seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts. In addition to broadcasting all Colts home and away contests, Bartlett served as the voice of the 2002 OHL Finals, which aired in both Canada and the United States, and the 2004 CHL Home Hardware Top Prospects game from London, Ontario. He was also the lead presenter for Barrie's 2005 Memorial Cup bid and has worked as a contributing writer with the Barrie Examiner.

A native of Newmarket, Ontario, Bartlett is a graduate of the Radio and Television Broadcasting program at Centennial College in Toronto. He will make his debut on October 7 when the Marlies visit Rochester at 7:35 pm.
