Calgary assigns MacDonald to Omaha

Omaha, NE - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights announced today that the Calgary Flames, their National Hockey League affiliate, have assigned forward Craig MacDonald to Omaha. The Knights now have 37 players on their preseason roster including 10 defensemen, 24 forwards and 3 goalies. Omaha is coming off its first preseason game, a 4-3 loss to the Iowa Stars on Thursday night at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. They will finish their preseason schedule against the Stars on Sunday, October 2nd in Des Moines at 5:05 p.m.

MacDonald, a native of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, played in 71 games for the Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL) last season, scoring 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points. He also had 104 PIM. MacDonald was originally drafted by the Hartford Whalers in the fourth round, 88th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. This is his eighth professional season.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights' training camp continues Friday with practice at the Civic. The remainder of the training camp schedule is below:

Tickets for all of the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights' regular season home games are on sale now at the Civic Auditorium box office from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and at all Ticketmaster outlets.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights begin their inaugural season in the AHL on October 7th when they host the defending Western Conference Champions, the Chicago Wolves, at 7:00 p.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
