Jersey Auction Raises $15,500 for MDA
April 4, 2002 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Norfolk Admirals News Release
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Last night, the Norfolk Admirals' post-game jersey auction to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) raised $15,500, over $500 more than last season's jersey auction. The winning bids for each of the players' jerseys are listed below.
Following their game with Hershey on Wednesday, April 3, the Admirals auctioned off their game-worn jerseys, with all proceeds benefiting the MDA. The team donned a special third "throw back" jersey for the auction, similar to jerseys worn by the Hampton Roads Admirals during their early days in the East Coast Hockey League. A total of 27 players' jerseys were sold for a combined sum of $15,500. Among the highest bids were those for rookie goaltender Michael Leighton's sweater at $1,100 and rookie center Tyler Arnason's sweater at $900.
"We are very pleased with the success of our MDA jersey auction," said Todd McKeating, Director of Operations for the Norfolk Admirals. "Our fans continued to show great support for this worthy cause. Thanks to all who participated in this special auction."
