Jeff Frazier named IL Batter of the Week

The International League announced today that Toledo outfielder Jeff Frazier and Scranton/Wilkes- Barre reliever Jonathan Albaladejo have been named the League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from July 15-18. It is the second career IL weekly award for both men. Frazier also was honored the week of July 20-26, 2009, while Albaladejo becomes the first player to win awards in consecutive weeks since Andy Marte of Columbus (June 22-July 5, 2009). The last pitcher to win consecutive IL weekly awards was Cole Hamels of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (April 24-May 7, 2006).

JEFF FRAZIER, Toledo Mud Hens IL BATTER OF THE WEEK

Toledo's Jeff Frazier led the International League with three home runs and a 1.286 slugging percentage in the recently completed All-Star shortened week. He was also second in the IL with eight hits and a .571 batting average. After appearing in the Triple-A All-Star Game Wednesday as the starting left fielder for the International League, Frazier was 0-2 on Thursday at Scranton/Wilkes- Barre. He then proceeded to go 8-12 in the remaining three games of the series, blasting three home runs, driving in six runs, and scoring four more. Frazier is now 2nd in the League this season with 19 homers and 58 RBI.

27-year-old Jeff Frazier is in his seventh season of professional baseball, most of which has come in the Detroit organization. He was dealt to Seattle for the 2007 campaign, but was reacquired by the Tigers heading into the 2008 season. Last year Frazier hit .308 with 11 home runs and 54 RBI in 105 games with the Mud Hens. Frazier is a native of Pt. Pleasant, New Jersey.
