
Jared Wilson rejoins Kernels from Fort Myers

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Jared Wilson will rejoin the Kernels from Fort Myers (FSL) and LHP Stephen Gonsalves has been promoted to Fort Myers. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
Wilson made a spot start in game two of a doubleheader for Fort Myers at Charlotte on June 3rd, allowing two runs on five hits, walking one and striking out five over 5 IP to earn the win. He had appeared in nine games (eight starts) for the Kernels this season. In 43.1 IP, he posted a 4-1 record and 3.12 ERA, allowing 44 hits and 16 runs (15 earned) with 22 walks and 26 strikeouts.
Gonsalves has made nine starts for the Kernels this season, posting a 6-1 record and 1.15 ERA. In 55 IP, he allowed 29 hits and eight runs (seven earned) with 15 walks and 77 strikeouts. The league was batting .154 against him this year in 188 official at-bats (209 batters faced).
Wilson will rejoin the team in South Bend and be available for tonight's 6:05 PM game against the South Bend Cubs. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with nine players currently on the DL.
The Kernels are in the midst of a six game Eastern Division road trip with games at South Bend and West Michigan. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, June 10th and open a nine-game home stand that continues through Thursday, June 18th.
