Lake County Captains News Release


(Appleton, WI) -The Lake County Captains snapped a four game losing streak on Thursday night as they pounded out sixteen hits on their way to a 12-4 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Claudio Bautista celebrated being named a Midwest League All-Star by leading the offense with four hits, including his sixth homerun of the season.

The Captains took the lead in the top of the first inning. With two outs Bautista would double to extend the inning. Following a walk to Bobby Bradley, Dorssys Paulino would single to score Bautista.

Lake County would add two more runs in the second inning. David Armendariz would double with one out. Francisco Mejia would then follow with his fifth homerun of the season for a 3-0 lead.

After Wisconsin would get two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning, the Captains would add another run in the top of the fifth. Greg Allen walked to start the inning and moved to third on Yu-Cheng Chang's single. Bautista would then bounce into double play, however Allen would score from third.

The Captains would add on two more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Paulino singled to start the inning and came into score on Taylor Murphy's RBI double. Murphy would also score from third on Mejia's RBI sacrifice fly.

In the seventh inning the Captains would add one more. With two outs, Bautista connected on his sixth homerun of the season, a solo homerun. Bautista would finish the night with four hits and just a triple shy of the cycle.

The Captains put the game away in the top of the ninth inning with five runs on five hits. Bautista, Bobby Bradley and Armendariz would all drive in a run in the inning.

Anderson Polanco (3-5) got the win after going 5.1 innings. He scattered 6 hits and allowed 4 runs, only one earned. He walked one and struck out four. Nick Pasquale would then follow with 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed one hit and struck out two while walking one. Jordan Carter would then go 1.0 inning of relief. He allowed two hits and struck out one. Justin Garcia pitched a perfect ninth inning to close out the game. He struck out one.

The Captains will now go for the series win on Friday night at 8:05PM. Lake County will end Justus Sheffield to the mound. Catch all the action on 1330AM WINT.
