LANSING, Mich. - Conner Greene set a new professional high with nine strikeouts and tied a career best with 6.1 IP, leading the Lansing Lugnuts (32-22) to a 5-1 win over the Burlington Bees (27-27) Thursday at Cooley Law School Stadium.
Greene (Win, 5-2) allowed four hits, tying a season low. Michael Kraft relieved Greene for the rest of the seventh.
Colton Turner struck out two Bees in the final two innings and allowed Burlington's only run.
Richard Urena put Greene in line for the win with an RBI double in the fifth, the only run starter Jeremy Rhoades (Loss, 4-4) gave up in 6 IP. Reliever Jake Jewell yielded the second Urena double in the seventh, putting Lansing ahead, 2-0.
Ryan McBroom scored Urena with a single, his 32nd RBI of the season, to put the Lugnuts up, 3-0, in the seventh.
McBroom, Urena, and Rowdy Tellez have combined for 108 RBIs this season, the most for three teammates in the Midwest League.
D.J. Davis finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, extending his on-base streak to 21 consecutive games. Davis has hits in 21 of his last 22 games, boosting his average to .292.
Tim Locastro finished 2-for-4 and notched his league-leading 27th stolen base of the season.
The final game of the series is a Flat Screen Friday presented by Auto Owners Insurance. Fans will win a flat screen TV in each of the first eight innings. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. with Sean Reid-Foley (2-1, 3.71 ERA) toeing the rubber against Justin Anderson (3-3, 3.80 ERA).
