
James Reimer Named Reebok ECHL Goaltender of the Week

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/General Manager Jared Bednar announced today that Stingrays' goalie James Reimer has been named the Reebok ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Mar. 16-22.
The 21 year old was 2-0-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 0.93 and a save percentage of .967 to help the Stingrays qualify for the Kelly Cup Playoffs a record 15th time.
Reimer made 29 saves for his second straight shutout with a 3-0 win against Mississippi on Friday and then turned aside 30 of 32 shots in 3-2 win against the Sea Wolves on Saturday.
Selected in the fourth round (99th overall) by Toronto in the 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Maple Leafs, Reimer had a scoreless streak of 174:19 that began Mar. 13 and continued until 15:25 of the second period on Sunday. He is 4-0-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.48 and a save percentage of .951 in his first four starts since being reassigned to South Carolina on Mar. 13.
The 6-foot-3 and 208-pound goaltender began the season in Reading where he was 10-7-3 with a goals-against average of 3.30 and a save percentage of .904 in 22 games. He has also played in the American Hockey League where he is 1-1-0 with a goals-against average of 2.91 and a save percentage of .870 in two games for Toronto.
Reimer played the last three seasons in the Western Hockey League where he was 41-56-14 with four shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.72 and a save percentage of .912 in 124 games for Red Deer.
The Rays will be back in action on Friday night, when they travel to Duluth, GA to take on the Gwinnett Gladiators. Game time will be at 7:35.
