Cyclones Sign Defenseman Mike Quesnele

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2008 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones announced today that they have signed defenseman Mike Quesnele to a contract. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

Quesnele, 20, signed with the Cyclones at the conclusion of the 2008-09 season for Sault Ste. Marie (Ontario Hockey League). The third-leading scorer for the Greyhounds, Mike collected eight goals and 30 assists for 38 points to rank 16th in the OHL in scoring among defensemen. His 114 penalty minutes were ninth-most among rearguards as well.

The five-foot-nine, 197 pounder from Sault Ste. Marie, ONT played in 233 games during his four seasons of junior hockey, collecting 23 goals and 87 assists for 110 points and 322 penalty minutes. Quesnele bagged five multiple point games during 2008-09 and had eight during his last two seasons with Sault Ste. Marie.

Quesnele practiced with the Cyclones this morning and could be in uniform for the game Wednesday night at Dayton. That game will be carried on MAX-FM (97.7 and 99.5), as well as the club's website: www.cycloneshockey.com.

In other Cyclones news, forward Chris Ferazzoli was placed on waivers.
