Blades sign rookie Reich; release Duffy

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that the team has signed forward Mike Reich to a contract and that defenseman Matt Duffy has been released from his contract.

Reich (pronounced: REACH) joins the Everblades after playing in 26 games this season with the Saskatoon Blades of the junior Western Hockey League. The 20-year-old picked up six points (4g, 2a) and 80 penalty minutes with the Blades this season.

In 2007-08 Reich, who stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 192 pounds, split time between three WHL teams, amassing seven points (5g, 2a) and 243 PIM in 61 combined games with Saskatoon, Vancouver and Regina. Overall the Craik, Saskatchewan native has played five seasons at the junior level in the WHL and has recorded 53 points (33g, 20a) and 724 PIM in 248 career games.

In addition the Everblades announced today that they have released Duffy from his contract after the rookie from the University of Maine skated in two games with the team this past weekend in Charlotte. The 23-year-old had no points in the two contests.
