BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield Jam (14-19) defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors (12-19) 104-101 Friday night at the Dignity Health Event Center. Terrico White led the scoring attack with 21 points, while Cory Jefferson recorded his third straight double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
The Jam trailed by as many as eight points in the opening period, but a 9-2 run to finish the quarter gave them a 23-22 lead heading into the second period. Both teams put up 27 points in the second frame, keeping it a one-point advantage (50-49) for Bakersfield at the half.
The Warriors outscored the Jam 31-24 in the third quarter and took a six-point lead (80-74) into the final frame. Bakersfield put together a strong fourth quarter, as they outscored Santa Cruz 31-20 and held them to just 39.1 percent shooting. In the final quarter, the Jam shot 68.8 percent from field and outrebounded the Warriors 13-3.
Xavier Munford tallied 17 points and six assists, while Askia Booker off the bench posted 14 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Xavier Silas added 11 points.
Verdell Jones led Santa Cruz with a game-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds. Elliot Williams had 20 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, while Chris Udofia and Aaron Craft scored 14 points apiece.
The Jam will now head into All-Star break with a four-game winning streak and will return to action on Tuesday, February 16 when they host the Reno Bighorns at 7:00 p.m. PT.
