
Canton Fends off Fort Wayne for Fourth Straight Win

The Canton Charge (16-13), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, got a road victory over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (13-15), 111-100, on Friday night. The win gives Canton 11 wins in their last 13 games, including nine of 10 on the road.
Six Charge players scored in double digits, led by John Holland's 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting with six rebounds and three steals in 36 minutes. Jorge Gutierrez scored a season-high 20 points with seven boards and five assists in 31 minutes. Nick Minnerath added a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes off the bench.
After an even opening quarter Canton outscored Fort Wayne 35-23 in the second, with 20 points coming from the bench, to take a 60-48 halftime lead. The Charge were up by as many as 12 in the second, hitting 13-of-14 trips to the line in the quarter and outrebounding the Mad Ants 14-7.
Canton maintained their lead for the entire third and 83-76 heading into the final frame. Fort Wayne began the fourth on a 10-3 run to knot the game at 86-86. The two teams traded threes before the visitors responded with an 8-0 run to jump back up 97-89. The Charge held on the rest of the way to lead by multiple possessions en route to their second-straight win in Fort Wayne.
The Mad Ants were led by John Lucas III's 24 points on 1-of-15 shooting with seven rebounds and seven assists in 39 minutes. Walter Lemon Jr. supplied 19 points, five boards and five assists in 26 minutes off the bench. C.J. Fair scored 14 points and nabbed three steals in 41 minutes.
Canton finishes their road trip tomorrow, February 6th at 8:00 p.m. against the Iowa Energy (Memphis Grizzlies affiliate). The Charge return home to the Civic Center on Tuesday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m. against the Grand Rapids Drive (Detroit Pistons affiliate).
