IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals put their five-game winning streak on the line when they battle the Florida Everblades at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla at 7:30 p.m. The Jackals come off of their first four-win week since March of 2008, having defeated the Reading Royals and Trenton Titans twice each this past week. Elmira and Florida have never met in the regular season at Germain Arena. The Jackals and Everblades split two games in the first round of the 2010 Kelly Cup Playoffs, a series eventually taken by Florida.
JACKALS RALLY AGAIN
Elmira has been scored on first in all five games during the current winning streak and has been scored on first in six-straight games overall. The Jackals have not scored the first goal of a game since Nov. 19 and have 10 first goals in 2011-2012. Florida has more first goals than any other Eastern Conference team, 13.
SCOUTING THE EVERBLADES
After starting off 2-6-0-1 in 2011-2012, Florida has gone 9-3-1-0 for an overall record of 11-9-1-1, putting the Everblades at 24 points. Like Elmira, Florida also had overtime success last week, winning consecutive games at home in sudden-death overtime over Gwinnett. Forward David Rutherford leads the Everblades with 20 points and 10 goals, while goaltender John Muse is fourth in the league with a .928 save percentage. Greg Poss is in his second season as Florida's head coach.
