Chicago Express News Release

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, produced a triumphant return to home ice, defeating the Kalamazoo Wings 4-1 at the Sears Centre Arena on Wednesday night.

The scoring began quickly as Kalamazoo F Bryan Haczyk stole an Express pass along the blue line for a breakaway, firing a wrist-shot across the body of Express G Allen York at 1:57 to give the Wings the early lead. Chicago answered back and tied it up at 7:16 when LW Chad Painchaud, making his home debut, stole the puck behind the Kalamazoo net and quickly found RW Tyler Donati who slid a nice backhanded goal past Wings G Riley Gill. The goal was Donati's fourth of the season. The Express held a 13 to 4 shot advantage through the first period.

The Express took their first lead at 8:45 in the second period when Express RW Chaz Johnson received a F Kyle Ostrow pass in front of the net and fired a slap shot that sailed over the net, bounced off of the boards, and deflected off of the back of Gill into the net. The goal was Johnson's ninth of the season. Chicago wasted no time scoring another goal just over two minutes later when they stole a Kalamazoo pass in the defensive zone and RW Bobby Robins found LW Mike Embach who snapped a goal over the glove of Gill. Painchaud added an insurance goal at 18:49 when he put back a deflection off of a Darcy Campbell shot to extend the lead to 4-1.

The Express held their three goal lead through the third period, with G Allen York turning aside all nine Kalamazoo shots to collect a 4-1 win. York stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced, and now in his two starts for Chicago has surrendered just two total goals.
