Elmira Jackals News Release

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that they have signed forward Brian Bicek (BY-sihk) to an ECHL contract. Bicek joined the club today for the club's morning skate prior to the team's departure for tonight's game in Reading.

Bicek just completed his final season with the Western Michigan Broncos of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). In his four-year career in Kalamazoo, Bicek tallied 29 goals and 54 points in 145 career contests. His best season came in his junior campaign (2006-07) when Bicek potted 15 goals and 26 points in 37 games, finising fifth in team scoring.

Skating in just one season of junior hockey with the Cleveland Barons (NAHL), Bicek picked up a league-leading 45 assists as part of a 71-point campaign that saw him finish second in the NAHL scoring race.

The Jackals also announced today that center Brett Pilkington has been activated from the injured reserve list and will be available for tonight's key North Division battle against the Reading Royals (6:35 p.m. - Sovereign Center). Pilkington had been sidelined since suffering a concussion in the club's 4-3 shootout loss to Dayton on February 29th at First Arena.

The Elmira Jackals conclude their three-game road trip tonight when they visit Reading in a 6:35 p.m. face-off. The contest can be heard live on MAGIC-FM (92.7/97.7) and on-line at www.jackalshockey.com beginning at 6:05 p.m. with the Hill Top Inn Countdown to Face-Off.
