READING, PA - Vladmir Dravecky broke a 3-3 tie with the only goal of the third period to lift the Reading Royals past the Elmira Jackals 4-3 Wednesday night in front of 4,587 fans at Sovereign Center. The win lifted the Royals past the Jackals by one point in the North Division in the continuing battle for home ice advantage in the upcoming playoffs. The clubs meet in the back end of the home-and-home set Friday night at First Arena at 7:35 p.m.

Dravecky cashed in on a Charlie Kronschnabel rebound after his shot was misplayed by Jackals goaltender Joel Martin (29 saves) from the bottom of the right circle at 5:28 for what stood up as the game-winner.

The Jackals got on the board first for a tenth consecutive game when Pierre-Luc Faubert notched his 24th of the year 3:29 into the game. Taking a feed from Benoit Doucet from the top of the left wing circle, Faubert quickly snapped the puck past the blocker arm of Royals netminder Terry Denike (21 saves).

Bobby Robins gave the Jackals a 2-0 with a shorthanded goal just twenty-seven seconds into the second period, sending an off-wing backhander over the glove of Denike after sprinting in from center. The goal was his 13th of the season

From that point on, it was all Reading as the Royals cut the lead in half when Shawn Germain scored on a stickless Jackals goaltender Joel Martin at 2:57.

Then it was Kevin Saurette (10:40) and Brock Hooton (11:45) scoring sixty-five seconds apart to turn the 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 advantage.

But Robins came to the rescue to level the score at 3-3 at the end of forty minutes with a late power play goal. Brett Pilkington's wrister low on the right wing was blocked by Denike, but failing to control the puck, Robins tapped it across the goal line for his second of the night and 14th of the year at 19:18.

Good seats are still available for Friday's contest between the Jackals and Royals, but are selling quickly. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets including the Gray Street box office - First Arena, www.ticketmaster.com, or charge-by-phone by calling 722-3711 or 734-PUCK (7825).
