FRESNO, Calif. - F.P. Guenette scored a pair of third period goals to snap a 1-1 tie after two as Alaska rolled to its 14th win in 16 games, 4-1 over Fresno before 3,298 Wednesday at the Save-Mart Center.

After a scoreless first period in which Alaska out-shot Fresno 11-10, the Aces struck first, when former Falcon Brett Hemingway (the reigning ECHL Player of the Week) set Olivier Filion and Josh Soares loose on a two-on-one, which Soares finished off with his second goal in as many games and his 27th of the season at 5:52 of the middle frame. Fresno responded with a power play goal by Kenny Bernard, who whipped a wrist shot from the high slot past a screened Mike Brown with 7:26 left in the period.

After killing a four-minute power play for the Falcons, the Aces took the lead for good when Kimbi Daniels found Guenette between the circles for a wrist shot that beat Jake Moreland at 5:09. With 4:49 left in regulation, Guenette picked off an outlet pass, deked Moreland out of position on the ensuing breakaway, and tucked a backhander five-hole for his first two-goal game of the season and his career-high 17th on the year. An empty-netter by Daniels in the game's final minute secured Alaska's sixth win in eight meetings with Fresno this season and pulled the three-time defending West champions within two points of the division lead, currently shared by idle Victoria and Idaho.

The Aces (35-21-5 overall) continue their six-game trip Friday and Saturday against Bakersfield, their first look at the Condors since early December. Alaska has won all four previous match-ups, including a three-game sweep in Anchorage and a 3-2 shootout victory at Bakersfield Oct. 24 that marked Keith McCambridge's first win as head coach. Both games against the Condors begin at 6:00 p.m. ADT and will be broadcast live on AM 750 KFQD, with coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off.
