CINCINNATI, OH - Cody Rudkowsky stopped all 22 shots he faced in his Cincinnati Cyclones debut earning his team a 6-0 victory over the Wheeling Nailers Wednesday night at US Bank Arena. David Desharnais had a four-point night to extend his consecutive point streak to 27 games.

Desharnais scored the first two goals of the game for the Cyclones, the first of which was the only goal of the first period. With his team on the power play, his pass across the crease deflected off a Nailer defender and caromed into the net at 10:42.

His second of the game, and 22nd of the year, came a mere 36 seconds into the second period. Both Seamus Young and Curtiss Patrick were called for minor penalties within the first 26 seconds of the frame and the Cyclones capitalized on the 5-on-3 opportunity. Jason Deitsch and Mathieu Aubin worked the puck around the front of the net and a blocked shot wound up on the stick of Desharnais waiting at the side of an open net.

Avery Wilson expanded the Cyclones lead to 3-0 at 3:01 of the period on one of just two even-strength goals on the night. With a delayed penalty, Aubin was able to feed Wilson while falling down behind the net and Wilson did the rest with a backhand move around Curtis Darling.

Cincinnati took a 4-0 lead in the closing minutes of the second period with Thomas Beauregard's first of two consecutive goals. He converted a Desharnais pass for his 26th at 17:24 on the power play. It became 5-0 on a similar play, Beauregard from Desharnais on the power play, at 10:01 of the third.

Barret Ehgoetz capped the score with his 16th of the season from James Sixsmith and Chad Starling at 13:15.

Rough play throughout the game came to a head after the final buzzer. Aaron Boogaard dropped the gloves with Billy Irish-Baker simultaneously to Gino Pisellini squaring off with Avery Wilson. All four players received a fighting major and a game misconduct. Deitsch also received a fighting major and two game misconducts for a punch he landed on Vadim Slivchenko.

All this becomes a preamble to the rematch between the two clubs at Wheeling's WesBanco Arena on Friday night.

The Nailers will host the Cyclones for Pittsburgh Pirates night at 7:35pm. Former Pirates and World Series champions Bob Robertson and Grant Jackson will be in attendance and signing autographs from 7-8pm.
