Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba -- The dates have been set for the Brandon Wheat Kings' opening round Western Hockey League playoff series with the Swift Current Broncos.
The best of seven Eastern Conference Quarterfinal will begin this coming weekend at Westman Place, with games on Friday and Saturday nights, March 19th and 20th.
The series will then shift to Regina for games three and four on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The Broncos' home games will be played at the Brandt Centre in Regina because the City of Swift Current is playing host to the World Womens Curling Championships.
Game five will be played in Brandon on Friday, March 26th, with game six (if necessary) scheduled for Monday, March 29th in Regina. Should a seventh and deciding game be necessary, the Wheat Kings will be the home team but will not be able to play the game in Brandon due to the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair.
The Broncos earned the right to meet the Wheat Kings in round one with Sunday night's 5-4 Overtime Shootout victory over the Warriors in Moose Jaw. The Warriors will face off against the Eastern Conference Champion Calgary Hitmen in one of the other Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Brandon enters post season play having won eight straight games to finish the regular season and captured their first Eastern Division pennant in three years with an impressive 50-18-1-3 record, good for 104 points.
Tickets to this weekend's playoff games are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca
Wheat Kings' Season Ticket holders are reminded that Monday, March 15th is Playoff Ticket Pick-up Day at Westman Place. Playoff tickets can be picked up at the south concourse of the arena (use the south end parking lot) from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
