Published on March 15, 2010 under Western Hockey League (WHL)
Everett Silvertips News Release
The Everett Silvertips will match up against the Kelowna Rockets in the first round of the Western Hockey League Playoffs. Everett, following a 46-21-3-2 regular season in which they tied for the most points in the Western Conference, enters the playoffs as a #3 seed by virtue of a tiebreaker won by the Tri-City Americans due to total wins. The Vancouver Giants are the automatic #2 seed by virtue of winning the B.C. Division. Kelowna, a #6 seed, finished the regular season with a record of 35-31-2-4. Seedings are re-assigned in the second round based on total points.
The Silvertips have drawn the Rockets twice in WHL Playoff history, defeating the Rockets in seven games in the 2004 Western Conference Championship, a series that saw the Silvertips erase a 3-1 series deficit by winning three straight games in overtime en route to a berth in the WHL Finals. In the second round of the 2006 WHL Playoffs, Everett defeated Kelowna in six games en route to a berth in the Western Conference Finals.
After seven regular seasons in the Western Hockey League, the Everett Silvertips have compiled an overall record of 274-184-17-12-17 (W-L-OTL-SOL-T) for a .598 winning percentage. The Silvertips have won three U.S. Division Championships (2003-04, 2005-06, 2006-07) and one Western Conference Championship (2004).
