Hawks Happenings On The Ice: The schedule is set for the Winterhawks' first round playoff series against the Spokane Chiefs, which begins Saturday night at the Rose Garden at 7 p.m. All Winterhawks players and coaches are available for interviews following practices at Valley Ice Arena this week. Please contact Graham Kendrick in advance to make arrangements. Media who wish to cover the games in person should contact Graham Kendrick to arrange credentials. All players and coaches will be available on game nights for interviews up to 90 minutes before the start of the game, and within 10 minutes of the completion of the game outside the team's locker room. Portland's first round opponent is the Spokane Chiefs, against whom the Winterhawks went 5-2-0-1 this season. For a detailed statistical breakdown between the two teams, see the second page of this newsletter. A big reason for the Winterhawks' success this season has been their play on the road, as the team posted a record of 23-13-0-0 away from Portland. The 23 road wins is their highest total since the 1997-98 Memorial Cup team, who also had 23. The team record for road wins is 24, set in the 1980-81 season. Mac Carruth is the WHL's nominee for CHL Goaltender of the Week, posting a 3-0 record last week with one shutout, stopping 91 of 95 shots for a 1.30 goals-against average and 0.958 save percentage.Â
Hawks Happenings Off The Ice: Single-game playoff tickets are on sale today at Noon at all Ticketmaster locations and online at ticketmaster.com, as well as the Rose Quarter box office and the Winterhawks' ticket office in the Memorial Coliseum. Groups of eight or more can get eight tickets and eight hats beginning at just $12 per person. In addition, packages for the entire postseason are available. Contact the Winterhawks at 503-236-HAWK (4295) or seats@winterhawks.com for more information on any of these offers.
