Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
NASHVILLE -- Justin Sellers had four hits and three RBIs, while Chili Buss connected on his eighth home run as part of a three-RBI night, as the Albuquerque Isotopes held on for a 10-7 win over the Nashville Sounds at Hershel Greer Stadium.
The game had a combined 17 runs, 29 hits, 23 runners left on base. The game lasted three hours and 53 minutes. Six Nashville pitchers combined to throw 207 pitches in the nine-inning game.
Alex Castellanos had an RBI single, Buss hit a sacrifice fly and Sellers stroked a two-run double in the first inning that took 20 minutes alone. Elian Herrera's solo home run in the second inning, his fourth this year, made it 5-0.
Nashville answered with three runs, two earned, off Angel Castro in the bottom of the second inning.
The Topes (24-24) got two runs back in the third. Sellers' second double brought home a run and Alfred Amezaga singled home a run for a 7-3 lead. Nashville starter Frankie De La Cruz (1-6), the former Isotope in 2008, was charged with seven runs on eight hits and two walks in three innings.
Buss' two-run shot in the sixth, off lefty Travis Webb, increased the lead to 9-3. Later in in the sixth,Topes pitcher Angel Castro walked with the bases loaded, which was Castro's first career RBI. Castro gutted his way through six innings, retired the final seven batters he face,d and improved to 4-2 this year.
