NEW ORLEANS - In the wake of the destructive tornado in Oklahoma, the New Orleans Zephyrs are doing what they can to help the residents. The team just announced that it will donate to the American Red Cross $3 for each $12 ticket sold for Saturday's games against the Omaha Storm Chasers.

"The images of the tragedy in Oklahoma immediately got us thinking of ways we could help out," said Zephyrs General Manager Mike Schline. "The Oklahoma City RedHawks were one of the many Pacific Coast League teams who were so generous during the post-Katrina relief efforts, and we want to do what we can to help those now in need in their community. "When baseball fans mention "Red Cross" as they purchase tickets for Saturday's games against the Omaha Storm Chasers, a portion of the proceeds will go to support disaster reliefefforts in Oklahoma.

"The tornado's path of destruction stretches for miles and has impacted thousands of people, and the Red Cross will be there in the months ahead to help people get back on their feet andrecover," said Kay W. Wilkins, CEO of the American Red Cross South Louisiana Region. "We are so grateful for the generosity of the New Orleans Zephyrs in support of ourwork."
