Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Albuquerque (57-44) dropped game three of their four-game set against Omaha (46-54) 4-2 with 13,098 fans on hand at Isotopes Park for Duke Retro Night, the third largest crowd of the season.
Chili Buss cut the Omaha lead in half 4-2 after launching his 13th home run of the season into the berm past right field in the ninth. Buss is second on the club in long balls behind Alex Castellanos.
Elian Herrera went 2-for-3 on the night, tallying his 26th multi-hit game of the season. He matched Matt Angle for the most multi-hit games on the club this season.
Starting pitcher Rob Rasmussen (0-4, 5.75) went six frames, the second-most innings he has tossed in a game at the Triple-A level. He allowed four runs on six hits including a home run and suffered the loss. The southpaw also walked three and struck out two.
The Isotopes bullpen held Omaha scoreless over the final three innings. Sean White pitched a perfect seventh inning leading up to Anthony Ortega. White has not allowed a run over his last six appearances since July 2 (7.1 IP). Ortega followed with a scoreless eighth striking out two. Southpaw Kelvin De La Cruz breezed through the ninth, firing a perfect frame striking out two.
Albuquerque loaded the bases in the first, compiling three hits and a walk, but could not push across a run. Omaha took advantage and picked up three over the second and third inning. Anthony Seratelli went deep in the fifth after the Isotopes got on the board for the first time.
Playing in an early 3-0 hole, Albuquerque cut into the deficit in the third. Tony Gwynn Jr. singled advancing Elian Herrera to third base. Gwynn Jr. then got caught off of first by Yordano Ventura but avoided the tag long enough to allow Herrera to score.
Dee Gordon flashed some leather in the sixth. The shortstop ranged into right field to snag a ball over his shoulder before sliding to the ground.
Yordano Ventura (3-3, 4.54) picked up the win for Omaha surrendering one run over six hits while striking out two.
The Isotopes and Storm Chasers play for the final time of the 2013 regular season tomorrow, July 21 at 6:05 PM MDT. Angel Castro (6-2, 3.24) will face Omaha's Chris Dwyer (6-8, 3.58) in the finale. Listen to all the action on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
