
Isotopes Lose Series Opener to Space Cowboys, 12-4

Albuquerque, NM - Sugar Land scored nine runs between the fifth and seventh innings while drawing 14 walks-an Isotopes single-game franchise record-on the evening en route to a 12-4 series-opening win Tuesday night at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park.
Topes Scope: - With the loss, the Isotopes have dropped a season-high four-straight and seven of eight. The club hasn't lost four in-a-row since dropping eight-straight from Aug. 3-13, 2023 (season high).
-On the night, the Albuquerque staff relented 14 walks, setting a new franchise record (previous: 13, three times; last: April 25, 2019, at Salt Lake).
-Greg Jones swiped two bags on the night, the fifth game the Isotopes have stolen multiple bases in a contest. The club's 15 stolen bases (two caught stealing) are tied for the fifth-most in Triple-A (most: Scranton/Wilkes, 25).
-Albuquerque has lost 10 of its last 12 meetings against the Space Cowboys.
-The Isotopes have lost two-straight contests by eight-plus runs for the first time since June 22-23, 2023 at Reno (14-6 and 14-3).
-Of the 12 batted balls registered at 100 MPH-plus, the Isotopes recorded six of them. Sean Bouchard tallied the highest exit velocity of the night: 110.0 MPH. Greg Jones swatted three over 100 MPH: 107.9 MPH single, 107.4 MPH forceout and 106.1 MPH double.
-Albuquerque struck out 10 times on the evening, their seventh game with double-digit punchouts. Their 111 strikeouts are second-most in Triple-A (most: Omaha, 120).
-The Isotopes went 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine on base, matching a season-high set twice this year (last: April 3 at Oklahoma City).
-Sam Hilliard connected on the Isotopes Triple-A-leading ninth triple of the year in the second inning. They have a three-bagger in five of the 10 games they've played this year.
-Albuquerque pitching has allowed a run in the first inning in three-straight games (nine runs) and five of their last six.
-Evan Justice and Kyle Wilcox each issued a bases-loaded walk (sixth and seventh inning, respectively), the second and third by the Isotopes this season (Josh Rogers, April 6 at Oklahoma City).
-The Isotopes committed three errors on the night, their fourth game with multiple miscues in a contest this season. They have made 12 of their 13 errors on the year in their last six games. The Isotopes have the second-most errors in Triple-A (most: Norfolk, 14).
-Albuquerque pitching has surrendered double-digit runs in back-to-back games for the first time since Aug. 8-10, 2023 at Round Rock (three contests).
-Albuquerque has lost all three series openers to begin the season.
-Greg Jones stole two bases in a game for the third time this season. His six swipes (one caught stealing) are tied for sixth-most in Triple-A. He also collected his first multi-hit game of the season (single and double).
-Coco Montes tallied an RBI and single. He has an RBI in six of eight games played this season.
-Sam Hilliard registered his fourth multi-hit contest and second-straight.
-Jordan Beck connected on a single to extend his hit streak to five games. He also has a hit in seven of nine games played while reaching base in all nine games.
-Sean Bouchard recorded a single and drew two walks on the night. He has reached base in eight of nine games in 2024.
-Isotopes starter Noah Davis completed 5.0 frames and allowed five runs, one earned, on six hits and four walks with five punchouts. He was charged with his second loss of the year. Davis tallied 5.0 innings for the second time this year (also: April 3 at Oklahoma City). It's the fourth occurance an Albuquerque starter hurled 5.0 frames (last: Ty Blach, April 5 at Oklahoma City).
On Deck: The Isotopes and Space Cowboys meet for game two of the series tomorrow at 6:35 pm MT at Isotopes Park. Albuquerque is expected to send right-hander Karl Kauffmann to the hill while Sugar Land's starter has not been announced.
