Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Albuquerque Isotopes (11-7) scored six runs in the final two innings, but it wasn't enough in a 12-9 defeat to the visiting Oklahoma RedHawks (9-9) Sunday afternoon at Isotopes Park. Former Isotope Adrian Gonzalez led the way offensively for the RedHawks with three home runs and five RBI's. Albuquerque was paced by Joe Dillon, who pounded out a pair of home runs, and Matt Padgett, who had four hits â including two doubles and a home run â and drove in four.
Gonzalez hit a two-run homer in the second inning, a solo homer in the fourth, and another two-run shot in the sixth as Oklahoma built a 12-3 lead after seven innings. But the Isotopes came back with a big inning of their own â a five-run eighth, keyed by a two-run triple by Josh Wilson and a three-run blast by Padgett, that cut the deficit to 12-8. Dillon homered to left field to lead off the ninth inning, but that's as close as the Isotopes would get as Keith Stamler was summoned from the RedHawks' bullpen to earn his third save of the year.
Starting pitcher Peter Bauer (1-2) allowed seven runs, including four home runs, in 3.1 innings of work for the Isotopes. Kameron Loe (2-0) threw seven strong frames â three runs on nine hits â for Oklahoma to remain undefeated on the year. The two teams will meet again in the third game of a four-game series at Isotopes Park Monday night at 7:05. Right-handed pitcher Frank Castillo (2-0, 1.79) is expected to get the starting nod for the âTopes against Oklahoma righty Joaquin Benoit (NR).
Featured promotions during the homestand include 50-Cent Hot Dog Night on Monday night and Orbit masks for the kids on Tuesday, the series finale. Tickets for these and all âTopes games are available at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at local Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com, and Ticketmaster by phone at 883-7800.
