April 24, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Round Rock Express News Release

(ROUND ROCK, TX) – Round Rock right-hander Jared Gothreaux gave up a solo run in the first inning, but nothing else, and the Express offense managed only six base runners the entire day. As a result, the Express lost a 7-0 decision to the New Orleans Zephyrs on Sunday afternoon at The Dell Diamond. The Express drop to 0-5 in day games this season.

The story for the Zephyrs today was pitching. Zephyrs starter, Sun-Woo Kim picked up his third win of the season with six scoreless innings of work; he gave up just three hits while striking out five and walking two. RHP Travis Hughes was equally impressive in his two perfect innings of relief of Kim. Hughes struck out four of the six batters he faced. Matt White came on in the ninth and gave up one hit and struck out two to preserve the shutout.

The Zephyrs took advantage of six walks and two errors to break the game open late. The Zephyrs plated three runs in the eighth and added three more in the ninth inning to secure the victory. Only one of the runs was earned.

The Express drop to 8-10 on the season and the Zephyrs improve to 8-9.

Lefty Carlos Hernandez meets New Orleans right-hander Tony Armas tomorrow night at The Dell Diamond at 7:05 PM.
