Round Rock Express News Release
(ROUND ROCK, TX) - An impressive crowd of 10,473 welcomed home the Round Rock Express and the New Orleans Zephyrs helped, stranding 13 runners as Round Rock won a 2-1 decision in game one of an eight game home stand.
Hot-hitting LF Todd Self got the Express on the board in the 2nd inning. Following a leadoff walk to Royce Huffman and a double by Barry Wesson, Self slapped a single to left scoring both Huffman and Wesson and the Express led it 2-0.
New Orleans starter Ed Yarnall, and the Zephyrs bullpen then shut down the Round Rock offense, allowing only two more base runners the entire evening. RF Jeffrey Hammonds cracked a solo HR of Round Rock starter and winner, Wandy Rodriguez, but the Zephyrs managed to strand the bases loaded twice, and left a total of 13 runners on as Round Rock won it 2-1.
