Gonzalez belts three homers in Sunday win

April 24, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Adrian Gonzalez continued his assault on his former organization Sunday as the RedHawks' first baseman slugged three of the team's six home runs in a 12-9 win at Isotopes Park. Last year, Gonzalez had two seven-RBI games against the 'Topes.

The RedHawks opened a 12-3 lead through six innings but had to hang on as Albuquerque scored five in the eighth off Craig House and one in the ninth off Jose Veras. Keith Stamler retired all three he faced in the ninth for his third save.

Kameron Loe (2-0) pitched seven strong innings for the win, allowing three runs on nine hits.

Oklahoma broke it open with a seven-run fourth inning keyed by four home runs.

In addition to Gonzalez' three round trippers, the RedHawks received home runs in the game from Ian Kinsler, Marshall McDougall and Manny Alexander to account for 10 of their 12 runs.

Oklahoma evens the series at 1-1 and squares its record at 9-9. The Isoptopes are 11-7.

Rehabbing right-hander Joaquin Benoit pitches for Oklahoma Monday in the 8:05 p.m. (CDT) game against veteran right-hander Frank Castillo. The broadcast can be heard on Super Talk 930 AM WKY and Sportsjuice.com.
