RedHawks open trip with loss

April 24, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Jason Wood's two-run homer in the seventh inning on Saturday gave Albuquerque its only lead of the game, but it held up as the Isotopes came from behind for a 4-3 win over the RedHawks in the series opener at Isotopes Park. Oklahoma dips under the .500 mark at 8-9, while the Isotopes improve to 11-6.

Oklahoma had 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 leads but were unable to hold on in the opener of the series and eight-game road trip.

Wood's two-out, two-run homer in the seventh off Michael Tejera (0-1) hung the RedHawks' southpaw with the loss. Ariel Prieto, fresh off the DL, picked up the relief win with former J.B. Miadich earning his second save.

The game ended dramatically as Conti had a final attempt to hit for the cycle.

With two out and the potential tying run on base, Conti hit a towering fly ball to deep center field. Former RedHawk Mark Little went up the incline near the fence, lost his balance and fell, but got back up and made the catch on the warning track to end the game.

Albuquerque out-hit Oklahoma 12-10, running Oklahoma's record to 0-4 when they're out-hit. The RedHawks' record dropped to 1-4 in games decided by one run.

Right-hander Kameron Loe (1-0, 4.15) will try to halt the Hawks' two-game losing streak Sunday afternoon. He'll be opposed by right-hander Peter Bauer (1-1), 6.89.

Game time is 2:35 p.m. central. The broadcast can be heard on Super Talk 930 WKY and Sportsjuice.com.
