Isotopes Come up Short in Loss to Grizzlies

Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Isotopes pitching staff combined to throw seven scoreless innings tonight, but the Fresno Grizzlies were able to muster up just enough runs to defeat Albuquerque 2-1 at Chukchansi Park. Albuquerque has now lost six consecutive games, which ties their longest losing streak of the season.
The two runs for the Grizzlies both occurred in the second inning. Tyler White put Fresno ahead 1-0 in with a solo home run just barely over the center field fence. The Grizzlies' second run came on Jon Kemmer's RBI single to right field.
The Isotopes scored their only run in the top of the fifth. Jeff Bianchi reached base that inning on a walk with one out and moved to third base on Noel Cuevas' double to left field. Rafael Ynoa followed with a groundout to second base that allowed Bianchi to cross the plate for the lone run.
Albuquerque starting pitcher Harrison Musgrave logged a quality start despite the loss. Musgrave scattered nine hits in six innings, while allowing no walks and striking out four batters. Brian Schlitter and Simon Castro pitched back-to-back scoreless frames in the seventh and eighth innings, but Fresno countered with shutout relief pitching of their own to seal the win.
The Isotopes and Grizzlies continue their series in Fresno tomorrow night. The Grizzlies will have right-hander Joe Musgrove (2-3, 5.29) on the mound, while the Isotopes have yet to announce a starter. The game will get underway from Chukchansi Park at 8:05 p.m.
