
Grizzlies beat Isotopes 2-1 Wednesday night

The Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Albuquerque Isotopes 2-1 Wednesday night at Chukchansi Park. Fresno picked up their third-straight win behind starter Cesar Valdez (4-1). He earned the win after hurling seven innings, allowing one run (earned), scattering four hits, walking one and punching out five. Albuquerque starter Harrison Musgrave (3-4) took the decision after going six innings, allowing two runs (earned), on nine hits with four strikeouts. For consecutive nights, the Grizzlies' bats whacked 10 hits, including three for extra bases.
The Grizzlies took the lead in the bottom of the second when Tyler White crushed a solo home run to center. It was his first homer since re-joining Fresno. Another run was added later when Jon Kemmer knocked a RBI single to right, scoring Preston Tucker (3-for-4). After two innings, it was 2-0 in favor of Fresno.
The Isotopes cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the fifth when Rafael Ynoa grounded out to second, scoring Jeff Bianchi.
Fresno relievers posted two scoreless innings, striking out four. Josh Fields tossed a perfect eighth, with two strikeouts. Closer James Hoyt notched his PCL-leading 17th save after he struck out two in the ninth.
Tucker and A.J. Reed both extended their team-high hit streaks to seven games. Reed also appeared for his current team-high 29th straight game.
Game three of the four-game series will be played Thursday night from Downtown Fresno. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PT. Grizzlies RHP Joe Musgrove (2-3, 5.29) will face Isotopes RHP Christian Bergman (MLB Rehab).
