Triple-A All-Star Umpires Announced

The International League's Sean Barber and Carlos Torres, and the Pacific Coast League's Seth Buckminster and Tom Woodring have been selected as the umpires for the 29th annual Triple-A All-Star Game, to be held at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday, July 13, Triple-A Baseball officials announced today. All four men will be making their first appearance in the Triple-A All-Star Game.

Sean Barber, a five-year IL umpire, will be working behind the plate. The Lakeland, Florida resident has been a professional umpire since 2006, having spent time in the Appalachian, South Atlantic, Florida State, Southern, Arizona Instructional, Venezuelan, and Arizona Fall Leagues. The 31-year-old has also umpired over 200 games in the Major Leagues since 2014.

Oklahoma City resident Seth Buckminster will man first base. Buckminster has been a professional umpire for the past 11 seasons, with 2016 marking his fifth year at the Triple-A level. He was in the International League from 2012-15 before joining the PCL this season. The 35-year-old has also made stops in the Texas, California, South Atlantic, Appalachian, Arizona Instructional and Arizona Fall Leagues during his career. Buckminster's inaugural big league game came April 8, 2014 at Safeco Field in Seattle.

Handling duties at second base will be 37-year-old Carlos Torres, a resident of Acarigua, Venezuela. Currently in his fourth season with the International League, Torres has also worked in the Gulf Coast, New York-Penn, South Atlantic, Carolina, Southern, and Arizona Fall Leagues. He has umpired games at the Major League level each of the past two seasons.

The third base umpire, Tom Woodring, is in his 10th professional season, including his fourth in Triple-A. Before joining the PCL in 2013, the Las Vegas resident spent time in the Eastern, South Atlantic, California, Northwest, Gulf Coast and Arizona Fall Leagues. Woodring made his major league debut on April 16, 2014, at Yankee Stadium.

The Sonic Automotive Triple-A All-Star Game presented by Gildan will be broadcast live from Charlotte on Wednesday, July 13 on MLB Network as well as online via MiLB.TV. All-Star Game festivities in Charlotte begin with the Harris Teeter & Tide+ Triple-A Home Run Derby presented by Clariant on Monday, July 11, in which six All-Stars and two high school players will showcase their power for a chance to win the Triple-A Baseball Home Run Derby championship belt.
