Islanders Recall & Trade Mattias Timander

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the Islanders have recalled and traded Defenseman Mattias Timander. Timander had two goals, six assists, eight points and 12 penalty minutes in 35 AHL games with the Sound Tigers, as well as one goal, one assist, two points and two penalty minutes in five NHL games with the big club this season.

The Sound Tigers will finish a stretch of six straight road games when they play the Albany River Rats at the Continental Airlines Arena in the New Jersey Meadowlands; which his the home of Albany's NHL affiliate, the New Jersey Devils; tonight at 7 p.m. and visit the Philadelphia Phantoms tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. The Sound Tigers' will return home to host the River Rats at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. All three of this week's games will be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM and at www.soundtigers.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. each night.

It will be "Shelton Family Night" when the Sound Tigers host Albany this Saturday. Town of Shelton residents and Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce members can purchase specially-priced tickets for the game by calling 203-334-GOAL, and all fans will receive a special on food and drinks this Saturday when they show their ticket from that night's game at Danny O's on River Road in Shelton.

NAPA Auto Parts of 3380 Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport and 1860 Stratford Avenue in Stratford will also present the third of five Sound Tigers card set giveaways this Saturday. The third card set will feature Derek Bekar, Jody Robinson, Brandon Smith and Blaine Down.

Sound Tigers individual-game tickets are on sale at the Harbor Yard box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on all game days, as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000.
