IronPigs take first game in Syracuse

(Syracuse, NY) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (8-5) five-run top of the seventh inning gave them just what they needed to defeat the Syracuse Mets (2-11) on Tuesday at NBT Bank Stadium as they won 7-3. The win for Lehigh Valley was their 98th all-time against Syracuse.

Brandon Drury and the Mets took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as he hit a home run off Bailey Falter. The home run for Drury was his second of the season. Lehigh Valley was able to answer in the top of the fourth inning as C.J. Chatham scored with the bases loaded after Edgar Cabral was hit by a pitch from Franklyn Kilome.

Lehigh Valley took a 2-1 lead against Kilome in the top of the fifth inning when Mickey Moniak hit a sacrifice fly to score Travis Jankowski. Syracuse answered with two runs of their own against Bryan Mitchell (1-0) in the bottom of the fifth inning. David Thompson scored on an RBI groundout and Cody Bohanek hit an RBI double to score Nick Meyer.

The Pigs five-run top of the seventh inning started when Chatham reached on a fielder's choice that scored Ryan Cordell. A wild pitch from Yennsy Diaz allowed Luke Williams to score. The big hit of the inning came when Listii hit a two-run single to score Moniak and Chatham. Edgar Cabral hit an RBI double to score Listi.

Neftali Feliz earned his second save of the season when he pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief. Damon Jones (1 IP) and Kyle Dohy (0.1 IP) each made an appearance in the game.

Lehigh Valley and Syracuse play on Wednesday at NBT Bank Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
