
IronPigs Fall to the Sword for Third Straight Night

(Allentown, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (59-50) dropped their third straight game to the Charlotte Knights (43-66) on Friday evening by a score of 4-1. The IronPigs were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the loss.
Charlotte took a 1-0 lead against Cristopher Sanchez (2-2) in the top of the first inning as Carlos Perez hit a sacrifice fly that scored Mark Payton. The Knights extended their lead to 2-0 against Sanchez in the top of the third inning as Yolbert Sanchez scored on a single by Jake Burger. Tyler Neslony hit an RBI double against Sanchez in the top of the fourth inning to score Romy Gonzalez and give Charlotte a 3-0 lead.
Josh Ockimey homered for the second straight night as he hit a solo home run against Kyle Kubat in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut Charlotte's lead to 3-1. The IronPigs bullpen responded by seeing scoreless pitched innings by Francisco Morales, Andrew Vasquez, and Ofreidy Gomez.
Laz Rivera hit his seventh home run of the season in the top of the ninth inning - a solo home run against Mark Appel to give Charlotte a 4-1 lead. Kade McClure (2-3) earned the win for Charlotte as he pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Dan Winkler earned his second save of the season.
The IronPigs and Charlotte Knights continue their six-game series on Saturday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
