DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (49-60) scored four runs in the eighth inning to comeback and beat the Louisville Bats (45-64) by a score of 9-5, Friday at Principal Park.

Iowa jumped on top early with three two-out runs in the first inning thanks to doubles from Narciso Crook and John Hicks. Louisville scored a run in the third to make it a 3-1 game, but that is all they would score against Javier Assad.

Assad tossed Iowa's second consecutive quality start, allowing just the one run on five hits over six innings of work. The offense grew their lead to 4-1 in the home half of the third on a sacrifice fly from Hicks.

They padded their lead with another double in the seventh from Frank Schwindel, good for his third hit of the night. Unfortunately for Iowa, Louisville tied the game in the eighth with an RBI single and a three-run home run from Colin Moran.

The I-Cubs answered right back with a three-run shot of their own from Darius Hill and scored a fourth run on an error to go up 9-5. Brendon Little closed out the Bats with a perfect ninth inning, striking out a batter along the way to take the game and even the series at two.

POSTGAME NOTES:
