
Parrish Goes 6.0 Strong Innings in Storm Chasers Win

TOLEDO, Ohio. - Left-handers Drew Parrish and Sam Freeman paired with right-hander Collin Snider to pitch Omaha's sixth shutout of the season and snap a three-game losing streak.
The Omaha Storm Chasers (52-56) took down the Toledo Mud Hens (56-52) for the first time this week 5-0 on Friday at Fifth Third Field. The Mud Hens lead the series 3-1 while the season series is tied 8-8.
Omaha's pitchers got to pitch with the lead the entire game when designated hitter Maikel Garcia hit a leadoff home run just two pitches into the game. Garcia's homer was the sixth first-inning leadoff home run of the season, giving Omaha the 1-0 lead.
Third baseman Jimmy Govern added two more runs in the second, hitting a two-run homer that scored catcher Freddy Fermin who reached on a walk.
Garcia earned another RBI in the fourth, hitting a line drive through the middle of the infield to score shortstop Iván Castillo from second base and extend Omaha's lead to 4-0.
Parrish (Win, 3-6) walked the first two Mud Hens to start the fourth before getting a strikeout and a double play to get out of the jam. Parrish would go 6.0 shutout innings, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts.
Toledo got their third hit of the game in the seventh before Snider forced Brendon Davis to ground into a double play.
Garcia recorded his fourth hit of the game, tying a career-high, in the ninth, coming in to score on a double from second baseman Clay Dungan and give Omaha a five-run lead.
Freeman allowed a double and a walk in the bottom of the ninth but kept the Mud Hens off the scoreboard, the sixth time the Storm Chasers have pitched a shutout this season. Freeman lowered his ERA to 0.79 with the scoreless inning.
Omaha and Toledo will play game five-of-six on Saturday with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. CDT. Coverage will begin at 5:45 p.m. on the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone. The Storm Chasers are scheduled to have left-hander Austin Cox (4-6, 4.52) on the mound while the Mud Hens look to have Daniel Norris start on the mound.
After the road trip, the Chasers return home for a six-game set against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starting on August 23.
