Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Odd Fifth Inning Helps IronBirds
The Aberdeen IronBirds took advantage of a wild afternoon from Jamestown relief pitcher David Jagoditsh. He came on in relief of starter Cody Dickson, who was terrific. Jagoditsh did not record an out in the top of the fifth, allowing two walks, while hitting two IronBirds batters. All four base runners would come in to score in the inning, as the IronBirds used just one hit and a sacrifice fly to score their runs.
Mancini Stays Hot
Trey Mancini had another terrific game yesterday afternoon. In addition to starting two double plays at first base (including one that would end the game), he had a double, along with two RBI singles and a run scored. He is now batting .333, best on the team. He has 37 hits on the season, 11 of which have gone for extra bases. He also has 17 RBIs, second on the team.
Horacek Continues to Dominate
LHP Mitch Horacek was excellent again last night. He pitched six innings, allowing four hits, one run and one walk, striking out four. Since the first inning of his first outing, he has allowed just two runs. His start yesterday was his fourth appearance as a starter, after making his last appearance out of the bullpen. He has a 3-1 record, along with a 1.90 ERA.
Long Trip Home
After tonight's game, the IronBirds will head home to Aberdeen. It will be a six hour ride, concluding a lengthy road trip that saw them play in Burlington, Vermont for three games before making the drive across New York to Jamestown. The IronBirds open up a three game series with the Vermont Lake Monsters tomorrow night, beginning at 7:05 p.m.
On the mound tonight...
LHP Steve Brault will get the start for Aberdeen tonight. He is 1-0 with a 1.31 ERA. In his last outing, back on July 15th, he went three innings, allowing five hits, one run, and striking out two. He has pitched a total of 20.2 this season, allowing 16 hits, three runs and four walks, while striking out 16. Before his last outing, Brault had not allowed a run since his professional debut back on June 21st. He will be opposed by the Jammers' Chad Kuhl. In his last outing, against the Connecticut Tigers, he took the loss after going five innings, allowing six hits and three runs, while striking out six.
