LOWELL, MASS. - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will conclude the team's tribute to Lowell's own Jack Kerouac Thursday, July 25 when the team takes on the Brooklyn Cyclones at LeLacheur Park.

The third, and final, installment of the Kerouac Bobble Head series will feature Jack in his Lowell High School Football grey and maroon uniform. Kerouac starred at Lowell High, including a game winning touchdown run in the Lawrence-Lowell Thanksgiving game in 1938.

"It has been a long road between the Spinners and Jack Kerouac," said Spinners President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. "When we first gave away a Kerouac Bobble Head in 2003, I don't think we were prepared for what we were getting into. This is a fitting end to the collection."

The first Kerouac doll, given away August 21, 2003, drew worldwide attention, with requests for the doll coming from across the globe. The line for the giveaway extended all the way up to the University Avenue Bridge for fans eager for the doll. The Spinners rehashed the collection in 2012 with a "double-bobble," with bobbling hand and head to symbolize Kerouac's On the Road. This doll pays homage to his football prowess.

After a star turn as a freshman runner at Columbia, Kerouac drew comparisons to all-time great Sid Luckman, but he quit football the following year and embarked on his better known literary career.

"This giveaway is a really a throwback for to the history of Lowell," said Bawmann. "Where everyone is aware of Jack's literary prowess, the awareness of what an incredible football player he was often is overlooked. We hope this brings some of his stardom on the gridiron to light."

Those fans not able to attend the game will still be able to purchase the doll, beginning Thursday afternoon at www.LowellSpinners.com for $20, with $10 of the purchase price going to the Kerouac Scholarship Fund.

"We recognize so many Kerouac fans are littered around the world," said Bawmann. "This will provide an opportunity for fans across the world to order dolls while benefiting the Kerouac Scholarship Fund."
